CatPrints Design was conceived utilizing my background as a graphic designer. Having started the business in 1999, it was pretty much put on the "back shelf", only doing jobs for those who knew me, as I was working 60 hours a week as the graphic designer for City Social, a Baton Rouge upscale monthly magazine.
And then came the horrible disaster of September 11, 2001. The very moment I heard the devastating news of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers, I knew my life had personally changed forever. As a result, my son's National Guard unit was activated, which lead to him meeting his future wife. They married shortly thereafter and presented me with my first grandchild. Then came the deployment of my son and his wife to Iraq with the Louisiana National Guard for a total of 18 months.
During their deployment I had the honor of caring for my 5 month-old grandson. I was also cared for my 81 year-old mother, who had Alzheimer's disease. Working outside the home proved to be just too hard on everyone and left me having to make some major decisions and life changes.
Due to these changes, I left my job at City Social and stayed home with my mom and grandson and prayed for the safe return of our soldiers.
Designing was something I truly missed and loved. I found it also helped me cope with the stress. CatPrints Design was removed "from the shelf" and I began to promote my business. I took time to learn web design and finally had my own business website, www.catprintsdesign.com, which I am proud to say I created myself.
Today, my business is steadily growing. My wonderful mom has gone to live in heaven now and I still care for my grandson while his parents work. My son and his wife are both still in the National Guard and will both be going back to Iraq soon.
CatPrints Design allows me to maintain my career, work from home, and also care for those who still need me. God does work in strange ways!
Thank you for taking the time to read this note. I hope I hear from you soon. I ask that you please check out all the pages of my site and please contact me if there is anything you feel I can create for you or if you don't see what you need.
I also ask that you please remember to continue praying for the safe return of our troops.
Thanks,
Cathy "Cat" Bond
